My Journey as a Small Business Owner
Updated: Sep 8
Life's Challenges and Small Business
Many of my customers know me personally. I am a simple retiree. I enjoy creating and making a little money on the side with my website and business. This blog is personal. Life can create stumbling blocks that misdirect your purpose. This applies to business, personal goals, or even running a marathon.
My Dad is 92. He has been hospitalized for nearly two months. When a family faces such events, you either become stronger or give in to defeat. It is easy to ditch your goals during tough times. I am fortunate to have a brother who shares the duty of taking care of Dad. He works full time. This means I spend time at the hospital six out of seven days each week.
With an online business, I can create from a computer. I can market and respond to customer questions. The challenging part is filling orders. This requires dedicated shop time. I deeply respect small business owners who rely on their businesses full time. Life events can easily upend your business.
The Importance of Support
I want to thank each customer, friend, and family member who has kept our family in your prayers. I am a Christian. I believe miracles can happen. However, I also understand that whatever God allows happens for reasons we may not always know.
We cherish each moment of hope. We find peace in knowing that whatever happens, God is our creator. Dad will be in heaven whenever the Lord takes him.
Finding Balance
Balancing personal life and business can be tough. I often find myself overwhelmed. I have learned to prioritize tasks. This helps me manage my time better. I focus on what needs to be done first. I also set aside time for my family. This balance is crucial for my well-being.
I encourage others to find their balance too. It is important to take breaks. Step away from work when needed. Spend time with loved ones. This can recharge your spirit.
Staying Connected with Customers
Staying connected with customers is vital. I make it a point to respond to inquiries promptly. Communication builds trust. I want my customers to feel valued. Their support means a lot to me.
I also share updates about my business. This keeps customers informed. They appreciate knowing what is happening. I aim to create a community around my brand.
Embracing Change
Change is inevitable. I have learned to embrace it. Adapting to new situations is key. This applies to both personal and business life. I have faced many changes recently. Each one has taught me something valuable.
I encourage others to embrace change as well. It can lead to growth. It can open new opportunities. Change can be challenging, but it can also be rewarding.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading this post. As a business owner, I sometimes need to separate my time spent working on the business. Life can be unpredictable. However, I remain committed to my goals. I strive to provide the best for my customers.
God bless to all.
